I love microbes. They are so amazing and we still have so much more to learn.

This was a great book: well written, entertaining, and thoroughly explained. I appreciated how current the work detailed was, how the author described the science and scientific methods of the research, and the importance. It was on the more scientific end or popular science books, and it was extremely nice to see the footnotes show where to read more in topics.

Fascinating exploration of microbiology and its impacts in the world. The more I’ve dug into growing plants over the last few years the more I’ve learned about the critical important of the bacterial makeup of soil on good plant health and yield. It never really occurred to me that those same principles apply beyond the growth of plants and apply to the general makeup and existence and evolution of ALL life. This was a great and broad look at some of what we know. And was well worth the read even if it was a bit of a pop-nonfiction type of exploration of the topic.

In the end was a good read worth recommending. Only left me with a wish to have more/any microbiologist friends to talk to about some of this stuff and what may have evolved in the field over the last decade since this book came out.
