This was ok, no real world building to speak of but it gave you a good understanding of Phoenix.

Intriguing

This is a short story. The writing is excellent. You are pulled in from the start. I am eager to read more books by this author.

This was a quick read. It's listed as a prequel to the rest of the Society series. Tracy discovered it and recommended it. It was the sad tale of a 13 year old boy who is changed from Human to Other and loses his friends, family, home and way of life as a result. It really grabbed my heartstrings and hurt me to read it. I did struggle with the writing, however. It was challenging to get through at times. Still, I'm curious enough to read a full-length novel set in the same world.

This story will keep you glued to every word and before you know it the last one will be read and you'll be in need of more. These characters will quickly become ones you fall in love with and want to fight for. Phoenix as a character is someone you want to be there for I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

An emotional, heartbreaking short story of a boy disowned by his family and having to struggle with life changing events on his own. A fabulous start to what looks to be a fabulous series.
