A really entertaining read. Flavia is as delightful as always. The combination of mystery and science (even though it is chemistry, yuck) is a great draw. Nothing earth-shattering in this installment (it's a mostly status quo read; i'm reminded of Amelia Peabody in Elizabeth Peter's series - 'Another day, another dead body'), but the status quo here is pretty good. Definitely looking forward to catching up with the series.

Another solid outing for Flavia, this one marked a great deal by her young but spot-on impressions of the world and the people in it. This one ends on a slightly hopeful note about her familial relations that make it just the tiniest bit more up beat than the rest of the caustic series.

Flavia is such a great lead character - intelligent, curious and head strong. I just am so sad about her evil sisters. This one had gypsys, scraping and red heads.

Working through this for my light reads this month. Bought the series for the library hoping that the science dept will help promote it with their students.

You know when you discover something you love so much that you really don't want anyone else in the world to know about it? This book series is one of those things. The characters and setting are depicted so well that I find myself wanting to know them as people in real life. The third book in the series was not disappointing as a sequel in the least, but the tone was certainly different. More sadness, more grief, but no less entertaining none-the-less. Just a lovely story that I think both adults and YA readers will enjoy. Can't recommend them enough.
