Let's start with the end.... Have you ever experienced a jaw dropping ending that you knew was coming, but it was still devastating anyways? Well that was the feeling I was left with at the end of Opal. With this cliffhanger I'm glad I waited to read this series because I don't know how I would have managed to wait a year for the next book. I was like "OMG, I knew that would happen!!" No crying here. I just felt bad for them, which led to a bit of emotions about it.

This installment again picked up exactly where the Onyx ended. No gap in time and Armentrout jumps right in. What I like about books that do this is we get to skip the recaps that usually occur throughout the first 100 pages or so. With these books, the Armentrout may mention a thing or two, but in general she doesn't think her readers need total recap, and for that I'm grateful.

Katy and Daemon....we'll they are a bit in love, or rather in lust for this entire book. Between running from the bad guys, figuring out a game plan and who to trust, they are all over each other. They finally hook up which seemed to take forever, but I guess in retrospect it wasn't that long. I'm happy to report that it was worth waiting to read as it was pretty hot and steamy. Not only have they grown together as a couple, they have individually. I like Katy even more. She's grown a lot. I guess the circumstances which they have to deal with forces them to grow up. I guess they don't have a choice in the matter.

Not only have Katy and Daemon grown as characters. We see a progression in Dee, Dawson, Ash and even Andrew a bit. Their interactions with each other have evolved and nobody is in the same place as they were in the last book.

Katy is trying her best to mend her relationship with Dee, though it's a pretty rocky climb. Dawson is solely focused on saving Beth and the rest of their group agree to help him do so. Even traitor Blake is involved with the rescue because he own motives for helping. As they should, they doubt the entire time if they can even trust him.

The DOD is tainted. The organization believes they are doing a good thing by keeping an eye on the aliens, but they have screwed up people inside doing awful things to the Luxens (aka good aliens) that they capture. Almost like a cell of terrorists inside the DOD. Some of those people are actually working with the Arum (aka bad aliens). It's all a crazy roller-coaster.

Again, like how obsidian and onyx stones tied in with the aliens, so does opal. But in a way that was totally opposite than onyx....so if you remember what onyx did to the Luxen and half breeds, then you already know what the opal does. Pretty interesting!

I hear that Origin will be from Daemon’s and Katy’s prospective, which will be a huge change from the last three books. This change could be awesome, or it could bomb. I really hope I like the change. I think I will because at the end of all three books there was a bonus at the end of the book where we got to re-live a certain part of the book from Daemon's perspective From that alone, I do feel like I would enjoy his narrative, but we'll see. Thank goodness I only have 4 weeks to wait for Origin!

Katy has been freed from DOD and with her they have freed Dawson who’s been missing for a year but they didn’t get his girlfriend Beth. Dawson may have been gone a year but it’s been a long year and he can’t stop thinking about going and getting Beth. Katy’s friendship with Dee has been destroyed with the secrets and the death of Adam she can’t forgive Katy for her involvement. When Blake returns to town he wants Katy and Daemon to help him get Chris his friend back from the DOD and Dawson wants to get Beth. Blake even has a plan it should be easy for them to get their friends and get out with the help of a stranger who only wants a favor.

With a plan in place they set out to the DOD compound intent on getting their friends but things go painfully wrong that they have to scrub the mission. Together they will have to figure out a new plan to save their friends before Dawson goes at it alone. With the new knowledge about the Onyx they set out to come up with a new plan. Katy’s life outside of training isn’t easy she is attacked in her home and she still knows the secrets about her mom’s missing boyfriend. When the time comes will they be able to save Beth and Chris? Can they really trust Blake? Who’s Luc?

I love Katy and Daemon they are my favorite paranormal couple the chemistry between the two is on awesome. My heart goes out to Dee after losing Adam after only just finding him and I hope there is potential for someone in the future for her. I really liked Dawson in the novella and I’m thrilled to get to know the brooding alien more.

Opal is the third installment in the Lux series which tells the story of Katy and Daemon. Adam is gone but Dawson is back but things will never be the same for our aliens and Katy but they can’t just give up yet. Another captivating installment in the Lux series it was hard to put down I just can’t seem to get enough of Katy my favorite book blogging character and her sexy alien. The concept for Opal fits perfectly in the series telling an intricate story that’s filled with twists and turns at every corner that kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what will happen next only to finish in a cliffhanger. It’s a good thing I have the next one sitting on my shelf reading or I would be at a lost. Opal is beautifully written the author has created an amazing story that captures the heart as well as the imagination. I really love her writing style it just flows so smoothly. I can’t wait to start the next one.

Love it!

I think I kinda outgrew this book series. It is too naively teen and cliche.
I remember the first two books to be better but it has been years since I've read them. I still like the alien story background but somehow it all got messed up in teen drama and angst too much. I felt this book lacks balance. One minute it is cheesy to the point of puking and the next it is action packed but filled with plot holes.
Adult situation and sexual content rating is like most American movies - death and violence are ok but sex scenes get a fuzzy curtain drop.

I don't know anymore and I'm really sad for this book being such a let down...

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

5/5 ✨

I LOVE DAEMON. I also love Katy and how much she develops over this book. We learn so much more about the Luxen's back story. We also have a tragic cliffhanger.

It's a joke where is called being "Opal'ed"

Anyway, the story is still pretty amazing. Keep reading!

This is by far my favorite book in this series. Not only is Daemon fantastic, but the story is incredible. I found myself completely caught up in the emotions, and my heart felt like it was breaking along with theirs. I can't wait to read the next one, which will probably be right now.
