So I got to say while I understood Melissa and the way she thought I can't exactly say I liked her and that was a big part of the problem for me with the book is that I can't really say I liked any of the characters except maybe Nan and Jess who were secondary characters with few scenes.
Melissa has been through a lot of pain at the loss of her ex-boyfriend to her closest friend via cheating. At the loss of her family's trust in her ability to make decisions. At the loss of her own self confidence and self esteem. I get that. I get why to a point even. That said much of the book she read a bit like a doormat which really didn't do it for me. Also I don't really get where her family gets to have an opinion about who she's with or why her relationship choices have anything to do with their trust. Frankly it's not any of their business and letting your family influence your relationship decisions is the quickest way to make everyone unhappy, especially you. Sure that family member may be happy but they'll probably be the only one and what kind of "love" is it they have for you if they're only happy when you're doing what they want you to? I think people use the concept of shared blood to run roughshod over other people's lives and take advantage of them. I've seen it too often in real life and I have no desire whatsoever to read about it in fiction or to read about a character who clearly regularly succumbs to that sort of manipulations.
I didn't like her family and it wasn't even that I didn't like the hero because I sort of understood him too, but most of the male characters in this book acted like assholes and the female lead considered it loving behavior or thought it was sweet. Whether the behavior is from siblings or significant others I don't understand or encourage the believe that acting like an asshole is a sign of love. I don't like when characters do it or when people do it. Being a jerk is plain and simple being a jerk and doesn't deserve understanding, it deserves a swat upside the head. At least Garth had some sort of excuse for screwing up, the rest of the guys in this book didn't and were unapologetic in their barbarian behavior and Melissa just simply couldn't get mad at them because being assholes proved just how much they loved her. Ummm no, not really. Not in the slightest. Being a jerk will never in my opinion be a sign of love, it's a sign that you need an attitude adjustment and that pretty much covers it.
Overall it wasn't a bad story and if you don't have the same quirks as I do about male characters and strong female leads you'll probably really enjoy it, that said it wasn't for me.

This was an okay read, typical, and just a novel you would wanna sit down to and not commit to. The storyline wasn't all that fresh, but it had its cute elements. I enjoyed how there were some geeky elements to it, not much but it was still there. The heroine was pretty strong and non-cliche type. But I have to say, despite the story being pretty fast paced and cute, the ending was god. Such a gag reflexing, cliche move. Neh, in was still able to get through it, just the epilogue... Ugh. I wanted to... Ugh.

This story itself was cute and light. The reason I rated it "Ok" was for the inconsistancies with the secondary characters. It go so distracting after a while, I kept getting pulled out of the story.

I personally am a geek -woman so I warned my heart to find a book where the main female character isn't some type of model/impossible-to-recreate gal.

As I have mentioned before on other romance books I have read and commented on, I don't usually review these nor are these my usual type of books, but my goodness Inara Scott did an amazing job with this one. Had me reading up till 1am to finish it in one sitting and I do not regret the lack of sleep at all. It even had me tearing up at the end. I'm not gonna go into details of any kind just know that it is definitely worth a try.
