I preordered this book so that should tell you that the concept of this book reeled me in. This book let me down so much that I unfollowed the author, because I didn’t want to see any of the following books in the series. It make me want to boost up some of the one stars that I’ve read, because they dont deserve to be on the same level as this. There were so many characters and I didnt care about any of them and their quirky items that identifies them. The mystery didn’t intrigue me and neither did the cooking/ food descriptions. The book felt convoluted because it was trying to do to much. Some said this would be more enjoyable if we were younger, but I’ve read and enjoyed Nancy Drew Diaries. I dont regret supporting a POC author, I do however, regret paying full price for THIS book.

I enjoyed this locked-room mystery. I think it was overly long and had too many elements and characters, but I'm interested to move on to the next in the series. And I love the idea of a building company that makes hidden staircases, secret rooms, and other magical constructions.
