The plot was interesting, as in the wider web surrounding everything going on. I enjoyed the details of Edinburgh and its description matched the city’s atmosphere at the time of the recession. Found the characters bland, lacking development or any reason to be attached to them, however. The ending was a bit disappointing, and the motivations of secondary characters felt really quite weak… but to some extent I suppose that could be a deliberate part of the underlying theme of the book, though I’m not sold that this was deliberate.
