Sweet and fun sci-fi book. Is it all that groundbreaking? No. Is it a cool short read? Yeah. The characters are very flat and undeveloped and the whole book is short but its fun and definitely different.

Reading this book felt like I was reading the screenplay of an anime. Which makes sense, since it was originally written as a play.
The characters were simple and childish, and obvious things were often overexplained or repeated over and over again. This made reading it frustrating sometimes.

However, it had it's good moments. The concept is interesting, and some of the short stories were touching.

Fittingly, this book benefits from going back for a second visit. There are lots of subtle, beautiful interactions between characters that I didn’t fully appreciate the first time, but that hit harder and made more sense the second time.

Give the time-travel mechanics some grace and you’ll have a better experience. Its both a cute story that tugs at heartstrings at times and a mental exercise in acceptance and releasing control of things that happened in the past.

3.5 stars overall: 3 for round one, 4 for round two.
