More monster foods, meeting new friends, getting to know your current friends, garden golems, & most importantly Mimics! Delicious in Dungeon is absolutely adorable.

The party has gotten to the third floor, but there are a lot of undead creatures here, and not many edible ones. When Senshi hears there are golems nearby, he springs to action to incapacitate them by removing their monster core. He then inspects the crops growing along their back that he planted the last time around, and there’s a bumper crop of cabbage, carrots, and more. After the harvest, he tills and plants more things with the help of the party, and replaces their core, so the crops maybe continue to grow for his next time around the third floor. Then, some orcs demand their leftover crops, but they barter as they overheard the orcs talking about the red dragon. Laios jumps into some living pictures and eats plenty of food from the festivals there, but upon leaving the painting, he discovers he’s hungry all over again. Chilchuck gets tricked by a mimick yet again, but it leads to another delicious meal. The party is about to travel to the fourth floor, but first they have to get across a treacherous lake with deceptive kelpie.

Segundo tomo de Tragones y mazmorras y me ha encantado ver que no todo lo que sucede en este cómic es blanco o negro, hay unos grises muy interesantes, especialmente con los orcos y cómo se comportan algunos monstruos de la mazmorra.
Mantiene el tipo el tipo de humor, aunque es más serio que el anterior. Las recetas siguen teniendo una gran pinta y dan ganas de seguir leyendo para saber cómo acaban sus aventuras.

Well color me impressed! I thought that Delicious in Dungeon would simply be some lighthearted fluff but the mangaka really put some thought into several aspects of the story! A few quick bullet points about stuff I liked in this volume:
- While the first volume delved into the biology and behaviors of its featured creatures, this volume goes a step further and delves into the very ecosystem of the dungeon! The story touched upon the ways that different beings (including humanoid species) interact with each and how they influence the environment of the dungeon. This all goes a long way into making the setting feel alive!
- The mangaka somehow manages to make well-trodden medieval-esque fantasy tropes feel ~*FRESH*~ as hell. For example: the party being able to defeat
the ghosts by simply swinging around a sealed jar of holy water because the ghosts can simply pass through the jar is frigging inspired . - The cheeky, subtly self-aware sense of humor is such a treat!
- I was a bit worried that the cooking formula would get stale but I was pleasantly surprised by some of the chapters. I thought the series would closely stick to a pattern of the party hunting a creature and Senshi teaching them how to cook said creature but noooooo.Â
Very excited to read the next volume!
