As someone who has been dreaming of Padme content, this book is exactly what I wanted. Taking her story of queen to senator and filling in the gaps from the movies. It’s not action packed and full of adventure, it’s politics. And I felt that truly honored Padme’s character.

This was excellent. Excellent in a way to understand the politics of the Senate. How relationships were built, and who undermined the plans of letting certain bills pass.
This is an amazing addition to the Star Wars universe. Padmè was a strong character - I liked her ideas and saw her growth. I loved how she had visited Alderaan (some gaps make sense now).
I am thrilled and scared to read the last book in the trilogy. . . so here we go.

clovis makes my skin crawl but i love the way padmé’s interactions with him were written, and the way she handled everything was very in character. it was also interesting to see padmé’s early friendship with mina bonteri plus bonteri’s transmissions with (i assume) tyrannus.

I love that this book has queer relationships, Star Wars is incredibly lacking, and it has been very long overdue.
I really enjoyed this book, I loved the queerness, the intimacy among friends, and there were some decent adventure segments as well.
I found the epilogue confusing at first. The book can be a little slow, and I feel like the ending is a bit open, but I suppose it must slot in nicely into a confined space.

Really nice way to look at the ongoing relationships and power dynamics between Padme and her handmaidens. The book is much more focused on relationship than plot, as there's not really a big central conflict aside from settling into the Senate.
I really appreciate the way that the handmaidens' skills relevant to security are so closely connected to their artistic skill. This makes a lot of sense for what we know about Naboo's relationship to artistry.
