Simply not the vibe I was going for. Nothing wrong with the book, just not for me just now.

DNF. The lack of description really got to me. I had no clear picture of anything, and when aliens are involved it should be paramount that there's description other than "they have tentacles". Are they like a squid? Humanoid? Do they have a face? It was incredibly frustrating just trying to picture what was going on. Also, the character development was seriously lacking.

Well, I asked for tentacles, and I sure got them. Unfortunately, that's really all there is to this one.

Lots and lots of sex. Instalove. 0 stakes, it was a bit boring tbh.

I feel like an ass because in my review of the last book I read from this author, Randall & Hudson, I complained that the plot was unnecessary, but this one desperately needed some plot.

The first sex scene was great. I really liked the second one too, but after that it felt repetitive.

And do the MCs have anything at all in common? I don’t buy it.

I usually like the fuzzy subspace this author writes, but this is a bit much. Cameron becomes completely incapable of even stringing together a sentence, no wonder they never seem to get to know each other.

I also can’t work out what the aliens look like. How do they wear pants? Where do their tentacles come out from?? I'm confused.

Sexual content: Explicit, OTT, so much sex.
SpoilerAnal fingering, prostate stimulation, handjobs.

Kink:
SpoilerD/s, 24/7 dynamic, tentacle sex, e-stim (through alien tentacle electricity), cockcages, orgasm denial.

Too much world building, no character development and just boring instant sex, not to mention dubious consent.

This took me a while to get through, purely because it’s mostly tentacle porn. Great tentacle porn though!

The premise was cute, very fluffy and steamy. Interesting to have a species who get their pleasure from pleasing others, type deal. I couldn't really picture the alien in my mind at all, however. The descriptions were not really helpful, just mentions of blue skin, a flat face, and tentacles. I get they're basically octopi, but it was hard to make total sense of. I love Innes writing, so it's not surprising I enjoyed this.

Rounded up from 3.5 stars. Listen, with all respect to MA Innes, this book is not well-written from a technical standpoint. It reads more like high school fanfic than what you would expect from a published book. However… There were glimpses of genius in this book so I was willing to be forgiving.
1) Who could come up with the detail that the aliens won over the humans by stating they wanted to pay taxes?
2) The tentacles can produce electrical shocks. For erotic purposes.
3) The cephalopods derive all their pleasure from the smell of pheromones released when pleasing their human. If only.
4) They have 8 arms. For multitasking. In all kinds of situations. So, for example, no rope needed.
5) Every alien is a dom by nature!
6) They learned about human sex by watching porn
7) What immediately happened? The aliens started making porn with humans. Sounds right to me.
8) They use the sewer system to travel around but get lost and show up in random people’s bathroom drains. Which sometimes turns frisky.

Genius, I tell you. This book could have no punctuation or capitalization, and it would probably still get close to 3 stars for sheer imagination.

I will always be up for a cutesy contemporary alien romance, especially one with tentacles. Unfortunately this wasn't a winner.

It was so hard to picture what George actually looked like and the descriptions we were given felt conflicting - can't tell which tentacles were meant to be arms or legs but the aliens wear trousers in public???

This is very spice heavy, which I am not opposed to, however the scenes just felt repetitive and a little boring. I also had a hard time trying to figure out the time line of the scene the night of their first date.
