Very interesting when speaking about eels sciemtoficly but very slow in the memior portions. I really liked the different chapters that focused on specific scientists that have studied the eels question which sort of makes a timeline for discoveries of eel behavior. The personal anecdotes were not for me but I could tell that they were important to the author.

I’m uh, not sure I have much to add that isn’t on the book jacket: eels are mysterious, the author used to fish for them with his dad, and this book blends nature writing and memoir to cover both. If that sounds like your cup of tea, come on in, the water’s fine.
