Well, I shouldn’t have read that before bed. It was definitely a nail biting read and I enjoyed the suspense. This isn’t my usual genre - in fact, it was my first thriller and CoHo book. That made it hard for me to figure out my rating as I was trying to rank it amongst my other books. Would I read it again? No. Was the writing anything to rave about? Also no. Did I enjoy my read? Yes. Would I recommend people read it for the nerve wrecking experience I endured? Yes.

Loved this book, completely different to what I expected and a good twist at the end. This book had me hooked and got me back into reading. Would definitely recommend!

when i first read the book i liked it a lot because i thought it was just supposed to be a psychological horror/thriller, but upon discovering that this is supposed to be a dark romance, i like it significantly less. protagonist is far from the main character, everyone is awful, and there are so many missed opportunities for genuine character development. the romance is the most insufferable part of the book, but it was tolerable when i thought it was meant to be a horror element. so if you just pretend to not know you’re reading a colleen hoover book, this is a solid 3.5 for simplicity and tropes

An exciting page turner of a book. The ending has actually got me conflicted and confused, which I definitely don’t think a thriller ever has. Pretty unique within the genre.

I think I’m team manuscript.

I enjoyed this! It wasn’t asking creepy as I was expecting(people made it sound so creepy). I was intrigued and wanted to see what was going to happen, but I was honestly mostly in this for the romance honestly. Some parts of this were very hard and disturbing to read. I don’t love the ending it just felt kind of rushed idk. It was enjoyable, but I didn’t find anything shocking tbh.

I haven't disliked a book this much in a long time. First, it's so slow and almost entirely inner dialogue. Tediously descriptive. My interest was lost fairly quick and I had a very difficult time getting through this book. Ended up doing more skimming than quality reading. None of the characters were lovable or had any redeeming qualities. And I mean, NONE! Even the son wasn't likeable by the end. This whole family is just...a bunch of psychos. The whole story was fairly predictable. Verity was a terrible person and Lowen and Jeremy having an affair in the same home as his "sick/injured" wife gave me the ick! The only reason I finished this was because it was a recommendation from a family member and she enjoyed it. On my own I would've DNF'd this one when Lowen started reading Verity's journal. If you know why, you know why. This just wasn't a book for me.
