How is Jill not gaining weight with the massive amounts of food she consumes. I can eat, but not like that! Wow!

I enjoyed this one pretty well, but there was something I didn't understand at all. It's a spoiler, so I'll post it at the end. I really dislike Jill's aunt. She's such a raging bitch most of the time. I don't even really get why. She's constantly mad at Jill, but it doesn't really make sense WHY she's mad at her.

SPOILER - So, in the beginning, it's described that Jill found Kent dead in his car from what they should was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Near the last part of the book, it's determined that he actually died from a poison tree frog. Pardon me if I'm dense, but how can you mistake a gunshot wound for a poisoning? Did I miss something? I seriously want to know.

Jill is having some rather unnerving meetings with her neighbor, Esmeralda, the town dispatch officer and fortune-teller. when Esmeralda is talking to her, she will seem to go into a trance and say strange things to Jill but doesn't act like she knows what she did or said. This is making a Jill increasingly uneasy. To top that off, her boyfriend Greg King's ex-wife has moved back into town and intends to win Greg back. Then at the rehearsal of a play put on for charity, Sherry's current boyfriend, the banker, is found dead. Jill tries to stay out of the investigation but people keep throwing clues in her lap.....

I liked the characters a lot less in this book than I did earlier in the series. Jill's insecurity about Greg and Sherry is ridiculous, and I just find it really difficult to believe that she makes all the breaks in the case doing obvious thing that the police never thought of doing. The attitudes of the characters also read quite old, so it's difficult to picture them as the ages the actually are. Because I didn't care for the characters, it was tough for me to care about the mystery.

Received from NetGalley.

Pure drivel. But I think that's how I reviewed the last one. In all honesty, her editor should be fired for letting these be published.

Had I not pre-ordered the series, I wouldn't have bothered buying or reading.

Jill Gardner is back and this time she's having to defend Greg's ex, Sherry. Yes, the same Sherry that has declared that she's going to win Greg back. Too bad she's technically already dating someone else. A someone who Jill sees kissing another woman. A someone who ends up dead. At least Jill didn't find the body this time...
AND she actually tries to bow out of solving the mystery. Refreshing in a cozy series.
A good book and I can't wait to read #5.

I was given an ARC by the publisher, Kensington Books, in return for an honest review

The fourth book in the Tourist Trap mystery series, Dressed To Kill finds bookstore owner and part time sleuth Jill helping her police detective boyfriend Greg track down who killed a prominent banker and why. Along the way, Jill has to deal with Greg's rancorous ex-wife, Sherry trying to worm her way under her skin at every turn.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable mystery full of red herrings, plot twists and, of course, hunky cops. I admit that I didn't know who did it, even as it was being revealed.

It's always fun to visit South Cove and its quirky citizens, from the eccentric Esmeralda to the crotchety Lille. The characters are all likeable, and the dialogue is realistic and draws you into both the story and the town. I could definitely see myself at CBM curled up with a mystery and a slice of cheesecake. (Why don't more bookstores serve cheesecake?)

Overall, Dressed To Kill is a fun and enjoyable book that deftly combines mystery, suspense, a little romance, and cheesecake.

SpoilerWho was leaking the information to Darla?

Back in town, another murder. I felt the book dragged a bit towards the end, but it wasn't too bad. Wasn't sure who had committed the deed until it was revealed. Quick, easy cozy mystery
