Beach Read by Emily Henry was a fun read!

I was excited to dive into another book by Emily Henry after enjoying Book Lovers. I simply love how Henry generates witty dialogue between her characters and I think that’s what I loved most between January and Gus in Beach Read.

Overall, a great fast read!

My 1st Book of the Month was a big hit! This would be a great ACTUAL beach read, but it has a little more substance than just a steamy romance novel.

January (yes, her real name) is in a tailspin after the unexpected death of her father. He left her his beach house in Michigan, where she goes to write her next book and to exorcise ghosts from his past out of her life. Her neighbor, Gus, is a blast from her past and also a writer. After some initial awkwardness, they discover they both have writer's block and make a bet to each write a book over the summer in the other's genre (he will write a rom-com, she a work of heavy fiction). They'll tutor each other in the ways of their craft and promise not to fall in love. Easier said than done...

There were some meet-cute moments and some steaminess here, but there was more to the story, more background between January and Gus, a little more gravitas than your traditional light-hearted chick lit. Some of their problems could be solved by straight communication, but it was overall a super-cute read.

I hatee this book so muchhh
The characters were so annoying especially january this naive dumb braddd i hate her so much like she is so emotionally dumb and she makes me so angry. The Tope idea was so great but Emily Henry didnt caught me it was so boring and also the smut scene were so biring and hard to read. I hatr that book it put me in a big reading slump.

3.5⭐️I do love Gus and January, their banter is amazing. I also do really love the message or theme of this book, it made me tear up a little. I loved that January saw a happy ending as something that turns out good at the end. While Gus sees the whole ride as the happy thing and even if the end is bleak, it's really about if people have happily spent time with each other. Very insightful because that is so much of human life. The only thing was that I was a kinda bored in the middle and couldn't really care less about the rest of the plot or characters except for them.
