This wasn't that good. I mean it was modern Instagram-esque rupi Kaur type poetry. So it's definitely accessible for all audiences. Especially those who aren't looking for a massive need to analyse every line. It's also sapphic so big up the representation.

I used to write the same type of poems when I was a teenager…

At a little bit more than halfway through this... thing, I finally decided to love myself enough to DNF it. My genuine question is: What on earth did I read? I am sorry but this was anything but poetry. I am very much trying not to be mean, but it is extremely hard because every single thought this book has ellicited in me is negative. This reminded me of the diary entries I wrote in my journal as an angsty 13 year old who thought the whole world was actively working to make her miserable. And I feel like even then, I wrote things that sounded and read better. I am genuinely confused as to why this is so popular and how it got to the point that it not only warranted one sequel but THREE. Just how. And why.

I really enjoyed this collection. Maybe it’s because I’m very much in love and in an LDR so a lot of the poems spoke to me. It made me feel many emotions about myself and my partner. I was actually shocked to see so many negative reviews for this but that’s poetry I guess. It’s very specific on who it speaks to. I read another poetry book the other day that had many good reviews and I thought it was terrible because I couldn’t relate to it at all. I think that’s what these people’s issues with this book is. I can agree that it can be cheesy and cliché at times but so is being in love and I can’t wait to read more in this series.

I really loved this poetry book, you can tell the writer but a lot of their soul and passion into their poems, I could relate and feel every word.
