Really good. I found myself caring about what happened to the little crat and wouldn't mind reading the other books in the series.

Excellent! Insane! Funny! Full of actual twists! In all seriousness however, for such a comical fantastical book, it has some very mature points on humanity and the juxtaposition between good and bad. Not to mention views on love, and even more important, food. Even some creepy moments, although they're softened by the comedy. A brilliant book.

Multidimensional wines which go beyond the nose and taste to the ears, as they divulge the secrets of the vineyard, invisible caviar, metamorphotic dumplings... The culinary absurdity of this book is hilarious. And that is just one aspect of it. Walter Moer's wild imagination is on full throttle in this book.
After reading City of Dreaming Books and Captain Bluebear, I dont think it could have gotten any better. But it does.

I love going back to Zambonia. This is a darker tale, which has the same imaginative setting full of quirky and endearing characters.
