It is fine. This was my second read of this, trying to get into the series but at this point I'm just calling it a lost cause. There's so much here that should appeal to me. And yet...I was just utterly and completely bored. I did finish it and the depictions of life aboard a war vessel of that time and combat of that era seem very accurate (at least to this layman) I just don't see the point of continuing the series.  YMMV, of course.

Very enjoyable read, particularly with my background in medicine and sailing, essentially the perfect book for me. A lot of jargon related to sailing, not sure how easy that is to translate with no background, but definitely added to my enjoyment. The online dictionary and Wiki are very useful, and enjoying the little diversions into sailing tactics and conflict that the book prompts inquiry into
