This book is incredibly dark it’s basically every single trauma a person could ever experience all wrapped up in one. The main character made a promise that she could no longer keep to her self the repercussions of breaking this promise are devastating. The male love interest I was rooting for the whole time and then he disappears. The main female character experiences extreme levels of abuse an intern begins to suffer from Stockholm syndrome. Towards the end of the book I thought that the love story was going to be Stockholm syndrome. The ending loved much for me to be desired there was no space true resolution and due to the level of abuse experienced in the first book I do not think I will read the second one. I felt sad for the main female character, cried several times and the recount of abuse the male character experienced made me very sad but reiterated that hurt people hurt people.
