Mention of: sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault, kidnapping,
I might be missing some content warnings...I read this in the middle of the night when I was sick and couldn't sleep 😅 and immediately started the 2nd book...so it's all a bit of a blur.
This book was a lot of fun to read...and I think it was my first omegaverse read too...which is honestly surprising with the amount of shifter books I've read over the last 20+ years 🤣

it reminded me a little too much of those alpha wolf gacha movies but I did laugh a lot because of how ridiculous it was.
SPOILERS:
SOME of the characters are cool but some of the plot felt a little too cliche/cheesy for my liking. like three alphas in love with one alpha, no sorry, the ONLY female alpha that is magically able to fight like a war hero with ZERO experience ZERO training and sorry did I mention she has a psychotic voice in her head that tells her to kill everyone. like I get it but why?? I did like how Sadie’s backstory kept her going but to me it seemed like she forgot about her sister quite often, not sure if it was intentional but I swear I only remember her mentioning her little sister around 5 times in the whole book. I guess Jax is cool, I somewhat like his character design (how I imagine it..) but I didn’t like how he changed. I liked him better at the start, when he was nicer and less aggressive because it just ended up being weird and VERY cringy. Cobra was always mean and I get he doesn’t like women because of the whole abuse thing but, how AND why is Sadie the only one he spoke too (AGAIN WITH THE CHICHE). Cobra is by far my least favorite of the three, he made everything feel weird and all the scene and interactions he had with Sadie felt forced. then there is Ascher, he was my favorite at the start. I LOVED and still do love his character design. I think his horns are awesome and his tattoos as well (the roses and fire). also his animal form is so cool. like imagine becoming a whole ram with giant horns. I REALLY REALLY REALLY didn’t like his weird interactions with Cobra and Jax during that one scene and honestly in general. it made me quite uncomfortable especially because I kind of see him as the ‘younger brother’ cause he is around a hundred years younger then both but I guess that’s just me. another thing that really bugged me was their cringy nicknames, there was not once where I didn’t chuckle after reading their lines. OVERALL interesting plot, I like the way they have to battle and while I don’t fully understand why the Fae Queen is sending monsters to the beast realm, I still enjoyed the story and how their world works. I have to say I’m not a fan of the smut AT ALL. it disgusted me so much I had to skip a few chapters to avoid throwing up (being so serious). I read it solely for the plot and my rating is based on nothing BUT the plot. I will definitely be reading the next one because this cliffhanger confused me so much, still like Asher through and I want to hear about the new character which I’m BEGGING doesn’t become a love interest, BEGGING.

Plot: 2
So basically, our main character is a servant who finds out she's an alpha. She's then sent to this military base to train, where she has to stay with 3 other alphas who are annoying asf (my opinion). I mean I get not trusting someone but this was a whole other level they need to fix within themselves. Damn. How you gon get a spy to tell on themselves if you don't get them to trust you?
Back to the plot. There's a fae queen who sends her faes to the (whatever realm we're in) realm and the alphas have to defeat these creatures. That's about all I got. I mean there's obviously more I suppose but that's as far as I can remember.
Characters:
Sadie- 5, badass. She brings up her height a little bit too mich for my liking but not to the point it's annoying.
Jax-4, beefcake and softhearted. All the men were subtly misogynistic and so was he. No matter how sweet he was, doesn't change how he and the others treat sadie throughout the book. Jax just happens to be the only one who didn't trigger me too much.
Cobra-3, Eh, he's one of those cold on the outside, sweet on the inside types. Usually I like this when it's not the WHOLE book. It's a series though so I might like him in the future who knows. I mean this was only like 500 chapters?
Ascher- 1, Didn't like him at all.
After thoughts:
Just turn off your brain. Ignore the misogynistic behaviors masked as jealousy and possessiveness. Ignore the constant mention of how puny the mc is an that being an excuse for why the alphas get so ugh! Anyway. Ignore the fast pace obsessions develops. Girl's core is clenching from the start even as the alphas insult her.
(OK I know I keep criticizing her but I don't hate her yall. It's just this inconsistency that passes me off. How is someone gonna insult you and treat you horribly from the start yet you still have butterflies from them?)
