I really didn't expect this to be as funny as it was lmao. The mystery was interesting and the random dive into
the Wild West Mormon romance was startling but also oddly engrossing (and yeah, okay, I cried when John and Lucy Ferrier died, can you blame me?).
But Sherlock is such a smug and sassy bastard I love him so much. And Watson is ready for everything and I appreciate that. All in all, a fun read! Still need to get used to the writing style, though, but that's less a critique of the book and more a comment on my middle school-level reading comprehension lol...

Not exactly what I had expected from the first Sherlock Holmes story, but still an enjoyable read.

This won't be one of my favorite books, but the mystery is quite fun. I was not able to figure out the sequence of events from the clues Holmes had (and the reader isn't given everything he knows until the end), but it was fun to try.
