The book starts with a baby found deceased in a river. The main character Molly is writing the story in the local newspaper. Her husband Justin is a professor at the local college where they assume the mother is likely located.
At the same time there is a side story going about Sandy. Sandy has had a hard life and she’s just found out they’re being evicted. She’s desperately trying to find her mom to fix it, but she is missing.
We also have the story of Barbara. Barbara is married to the lead detective on the case. Her son goes to school with Mollys’s daughter and is having a serious mental break. Her daughter is tutoring Sandy to help her get her GED.
The three different perspectives add to the story. They give insight into how the community functions and how different classes are treated.
It was an entertaining read and I kept turning the pages to find out who was the parent of the baby.
I knew one of the plot twists from the beginning. When introducing characters it just seemed obvious.

Slower than what I was expecting. Overall decent but the ending was a bit underwhelming. The twists for me were surprising. Def check out content warnings.

By the time all the characters have been introduced and one of them seem too good to be true, I know it won't end well at the end. Despite me predicting it, the ending still stings my heart and I reflexively almost throw my phone away.

I like it even though the pace is kinda slow and I'm not a fan of slow-pace books but I cannot stop reading this!! It has an intricate storyline with quite a lot of POVs and I almost lost to keeping who is who at the beginning.

It has also a mix of formats like diary entries, transcripts of therapy sessions, chat rooms, and news articles. Which totally makes it more interesting! Overall, an awesome book!!
