At first Last Seen Alice seems familiar but with every twist and turn, and through every person and their secrets you realize this book is different! Definitely worth reading.

Libby has had a difficult few months. Hailed as a hero after saving children from a fire at the school where she works, Libby lost her baby and broke her arm and the stress on her marriage is telling. When a note drops through the door of her flat Libby jumps at the chance of a house swap and travels to Cornwall with her husband Jamie. However Libby doesn't find the break relaxing and, on their return to Bath, things seem to go from bad to worse. Is Libby's past catching up with her.

This is the sort of book that will sell by the bucketload over the summer season, it is the perfect beach read for the legions of people (usually female) who love a psychological story that doesn't involve loads of serial killers! In fact of its genre it's quite a decent example. OK so the plot has more holes in it than a fishing net, the characters are not very sympathetic and it rushes towards the end but there is quite an interesting premise to the tale. I devoured the book, reading it in a couple of hours because it is pacy, but it was empty calories really.

Imagine swapping houses with someone you never met before..
imagine you find out they’re lying about the reason of the swap and they’re hiding something..
Imagine you finding disturbing facts about the people owning the house ur staying in.
Imagine seeing stuff.. Hearing voices..
Imagine finding out, all your life has been just a lie..
Imagine watching everything unravel beneath your eyes, your life is crumbling..

This book is truly one of the most gripping, thrilling, twisted novels I’ve ever read.

Reading this book is highly a must!

I’m an Indigo Employee, and I received an advanced reading copy of this book - from Indigo Books & Music - in exchange for my honest feedback.

Very slow moving - this book took a while to get into.

SPOILERS BELOW:

The first major twist (finding out Libby was Karen, and she stole Beth’s identity) happened maybe 3/4 of the way into the book. It surprised me, and I really liked the twist, but the rest of the story almost felt like an afterthought. The conflict tied us way too neatly - it made absolutely no sense. Especially Beth forgiving Libby/Karen - based on their character histories and development - this made no sense!

Also, Hannah being sketchy was very predictable & it felt like her part was in their just so we could have another twist. The epilogue also made zero sense - if Beth forgave her & moved on - why would she re- blame Libby/Karen for the murder? All in all, I was a little let down.

The writing felt somehow both too slow and too rushed, and many of the twists and turns felt like they were afterthoughts/just there for the shock factor.
