I loved the homage to "Frankenstein" and particularly the 1st half of the book. The chapters of Jamie's childhood are utterly fantastic. However, I felt the 2nd half sputtered. Definitely not a bad book, but not one of King's best.

I'm a little sad that this was only a 3-star read for me. I was pumped to read a book that has been touted for the Lovecraft and Shelley references. Also, I tend to enjoy books that look at the man behind the curtain with regards to religion.

The book meandered for a significant portion. I was getting long descriptions of a lived childhood before anything super interesting happened. I really appreciate King's genius, seen here as he masterfully circled back to every single seemingly insignificant scene.

That said, the journey to get there was a bit of a slog at times. I am going to sit with the book a bit longer and may possibly bump it up a star, but for now it will sit at 3.

I dug it. Very Lovecraftian at the end. Reminds me of a few books, but only a couple that I can recall by name. Some genuine moments of horror. Good read.

Já ho prostě žeru.
Všimla jsem si, že Revival má trochu horší hodnocení, než je průměr u klasické kingovky, ale upřímně, mně to sedlo a to dost.
Je to klasický King, příběh s tisícovkou odboček a nepodstatných zmínek, ale mně to vyhovuje a v celkovém textu mi to nepřekáží, ba naopak. Jako vždy ukázka skvělého vypravěčského umu, ať už se na příběh díváme očima malého kluka, dospívajícího mladíka, chlapa ve středním věku či stárnoucího muže. King dokáže parádně vystihnout každé období života, měnící se priority, náhled na svět, vnímání plynutí času. Vztahovou dynamiku, sílu emocí.
Uznávám, že má občas problém se zakončením příběhu, někdy je to nejslabší část knihy, vsadím se, že by nejraději psal dál a dál, jen aby nemusel ukončovat. Každopádně zde mi konec přišel fajn. Možná s menším spoilerem bych poznamenala, že to vnímám jako poctu Lovecraftovi, což je můj šálek čaje.
Jako vždy pro mě bylo čtení protknuté takovou neuchopitelnou nostalgií, ale krásnou, která po dočtení ještě chvíli rezonuje. Za mě dobrý!
