Ashes in the third book for Dark In You series and still the series has not disappointed me. This review is going to be really vague since I don't want to reveal any spoilers. The book starts when Harper is attacked once again.

I would have liked it if Harper could've had a good relationship with her brother. Her whole family from her "mother's" side is pretty screwed up but he seemed so nice. It's too bad he's always shutting her out without a word when things get difficult.

The romance between Harper and Knox is cute af like in earlier books. Knox is still possessive and wants her to take his surname. He wants them to make their own family with it. I loved their relationship like always. For a minute I thought Knox's demon was too far gone and being toxic towards Harper but he did what he did to save her.

I liked the mystery almost as much as in earlier books but I wasn't as compelled to find out who was behind it all. The culprit was surprise for me, like always, but I thought it was pretty mess up why one of them did it after all she had gone through.

Really liked the mystery and twists in this one.

On my first read, McCauley totally creeped me out. But on my second read, I felt (spoiler)
Spoilerreally bad for the kid and wondered how they could seriously suspect him for the crimes. But hey that's called hindsight

Harper is always getting kidnapped by evil demons. I’m getting tired of it tbh. Despite this, I really love Knox and Harper as a couple. I am glad they had a baby, which will most likely be the main theme of the next book. I think Lou is one of the funniest side characters.

I loved the book. I won't comment on the plot, but what I will say is that I especially liked that the compromises in Knox and Harper's relationship was so well described. I feel that is an element not much talked about in romance books.

My problem these days is that I have read all of Suzanne Wright's books. So now I have to reread them while waiting for new ones to come. And when a new book is out I read it the first week, sometimes the same day, and I have to wait forever for her to release more. Oh my first world problems.

French & English reviews

AHHHHH ><

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think this is perhaps the best book so far and above all it's a strong book in action and emotion !!
What I particularly liked :
- action from the very first chapter and many suspense and emotions ><
- Knox and Harper <3 (I forgot to mention it in my other reviews but I love the fact that Harper's eyes change color <3)
- these last chapters !!! RIGHTEOUS !!!!
- I'm the first to hate
Spoilerpregnant heroines but there, I loved it and especially the moment when Knox takes the baby for the first time in his arms
<3
What I liked least :
- Even though I love it, I find it a bit odd that knowing the cruelty and power of Knox, there are always more villains who want to take on Harper ... GUYS WAKE UP !!!
And it's the almost last book ... AHHHHH ><
Honestly, I started reading this book only because I felt like I should complete the story. The demon fighting bad guys concept was starting to feel repetitive, but I liked the addition of the pregnancy. I just noticed there’s a couple more books in the series and I’m interested to see how adding a baby works into the storyline. I’d love to branch off into the friends’ lives more as well.
Ashes was a great addition to the Dark in You series, each book starts where the other ended and I must say, I liked this one even better than the last. The pregnancy storyline was interesting, I can't say the big bad at the end was very surprising or shocking but it was a great read. I'm curious to know who the last horseman is though. I'm excited to read the fourth book.
honestly, I can only repeat myself
lots of summarizing and repetition, but that aside really enjoyed it (I guess it's also helpful if I ever feel like picking up a random book in the series, I won't necessarily have to do a complete reread, cos we get so many reminders lol) - but yeah, love this world, love the characters, love being back with them
compared to book 2, this one had a lot less T&D and K2 crumbs, which was a bloody shame, but the tiny crumbs we got were, as usual, delish
this was v pregnancy focused, but I knew there would be a kid in book 4, so that didn't surprise me/didn't mind
the creepy demon kid was creepy at first (duh), but then he grew on me - v curious when he said you (harper) won't hurt me, but he (your kid/asher) will foreshadowing much
Demon babies. All the unsexy parts of pregnancy magically don’t happen! Kidnapping. Opens in a really dark way with wings being cut off??
