A highly readable, insightful, and clear history of racism in Britain. It drew some interesting parallels with racism in America, and by turns left me empowered, vindicated, informed, and appalled.
An excellent choice if you are trying to select between anti-racism texts.

Fascinating to read, the edition I read had an extra chapter at the end reflecting on brexit and Trump. Considering 2021 context and the pandemic it was particularly interesting

Reni starts with a history of slavery and race in Britain and then continues into modernity, examining police brutality, white feminism, and white nationalism, including Trumpism and Brexit. It was a really detailed explanation of how the myths of post racialism and color blindness can hinder forward progress to equality and can in fact be more harmful than more easily identifiable displays of racism such as racial slurs or segregation.
