A random collection of small tales from Italy. It was just a collection of moralistic fairytales reminding us to be loyal to our parents, shun vanity and gluttony, and to marry only those we truly love. Essentially an Italian Grimm brothers. Easy and good but not awe-inspiring.

I think this book is not meant to be read cover to cover, so thats probably on me. It was not a bad time to read but some of the stories have understandably not aged well, and some were quite repetitive and boring. I do also wish it was kind of sectioned a bit better? Overall some fun tales though!

This is the source for several fairy tale rewrites by middle grade and YA authors and it was interesting to work my way through the compilation of tales. Many are quite grimm and delightful! Not exactly bed time reading for the younger set, but adults will enjoy, for sure.

Una raccolta che ho letto con infinito piacere. Ho sempre amato le fiabe, di qualsiasi tipo, e questa raccolta di Calvino rappresenta un lavoro eccezionale. Non mi dilungo sui metodi di raccolta e trascrizione, però sono interessantissimi e fondamentali per comprendere le varie scelte e i vari tipi di fiaba. All'inizio pensavo di annotarmi le fiabe che mi sono piaciute di più, poi poco dopo l'inizio della lettura ho cambiato idea perché avrei dovuto annotarle quasi tutte (e sono 200). Perciò posso semplicemente consigliare questa raccolta a tutti colore che amano le fiabe e sono curiosi di scoprire quelle della tradizione orale italiana.
