But I Don't Eat Ants by Dan Marvin

Marvin uses wordplay to tell a story about an anteater who will not eat ants. Everything else is on the menu, just not ants. The story keeps building to the last couple of pages, when mom fools him with a certain kind of ant, and the little anteater has to rethink his situation.

End papers in front show an anteater having a desert picnic, in the back are images of different types of foods.

Kelly Fry's illustrations are whimsical and in the flat style of mid 20th century books. Words are all in caps and the colors vary by page, which keeps it fresh.

Kids will laugh at this one, especially Texas kids.

This book is full of alliteration, and fun plays on words. Adorable and lots of new words and foods for little ones
