I highly enjoyed this book. It was emotional, suspenseful and gripping.

Most importantly, it was obvious the author did his research on working dogs, both War and Service. He touched on the important factor of ptsd in working dogs who see combat or lose their handlers. He acknowledged that these loyal, faithful companion animals can suffer from ptsd just like humans do.

This story didn't glorify war, but touched on the harsh reality of it. It shone a light on the grief and coping, the struggle to survive that comes with losing a loved one in combat.

That part of the story alone kept me reading, but the weaving in of a supernatural enemy giving Atlas purpose, helping him move forward, as well as helping his new family move forward, made it all the more of an intensive read.

This was an excellent book, and I will be recommending it to others. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
