Firstly, I want to say that I cannot believe that I define myself as a bookworm but until a couple of days ago I had NEVER read this book. What is that about? I can't believe I didn't read this as a child. I need to have serious words with my parents.

Can we please appreciate how beautiful these remastered covers are. They are so so stunning honestly one of the best looking books that I have seen. The colours and pattern is so beautiful that I just can't stop looking at it.

Anne of Green Gables is such a heartwarming read and I really enjoyed it. I adored Anne as soon as I met her, and continued to love her throughout the book. In fact my love grew for her significantly. I love watching her develop into the confident and loved young lady that she was, especially after seeing her at the beginning. It filled my heart with joy seeing her grow into the character that she was. I  can honestly say that I am not sure how somebody can read this book and not fall in love with Anne's character. She is such a role model for all the young women out there.

I absolutely loved reading about the relationship between Anne and Matthew. They hit it off from the moment that they meet and they're relationship just develops from there. They love and care for each other so much, Matthew fights for Anne every step of the way and it is so heart warming. Marilla is a lot harder to win over but watching Anne do the inevitable is wonderful and I found myself routing for their relationship throughout. Marilla did annoy me as a character to begin with but I did warm to her throughout.

I loved following Anne through her journey of mischief. I loved meeting the people she did along the way, and watch her relationships with people develop. Honestly this book is so wonderful and I can't believe it has taken me 27 years to pick it up. I can't wait to continue with stories from Anne and find out what else she gets up too.

This one was a favourite when I was younger and I finally reread it! I forgot how hilarious and charming this book is, and thoroughly enjoyed my time revisiting the world of Avonlea.

"For we pay a price for everything we get or take in this world; and although ambitions are well worth having, they are not be cheaply won, but exact their dues of work and self-denial, anxiety and discouragement."

A beautiful and heart-warming story about growing up. I wish we could all stay young forever

Anne of Green Gables kicks off following eleven-year-old Anne, who arrives at Green Gables farm to find the Cuthberts in dire need of help. They had hoped to adopt a boy, but due to a mistake, a talkative red-headed girl ends up on their doorstep instead. Although they initially consider sending her away, they quickly fall in love with the highly sensitive child, who possesses an incredibly vivid imagination.

Now, before you dismiss this review on the grounds that it's discussing classical literature, hear me out. Even if you're not a fan of classics, this book is worth a read. Written in 1905, it reads more like a book of short historical stories than anything else.

But wait, there's more! If that's not enough to convince you, then consider its status as the ultimate cottagecore novel. The pages are filled with lush greenery descriptions, homemade baked goods, farm life, and wildflowers. Additionally, the book features a positive message that emphasizes the little joys in life. No grand plans or complicated schemes—just a simple life, enjoying nature's beauty.

Still not convinced? Then allow me to introduce you to Anne, the loveliest red-headed girl with braids you'll ever meet. She'll talk your ear off, romanticize everything, and get lost in her daydreams—dreams of being a princess with blonde hair or sleeping in a blooming cherry tree. It was Anne's charm that won my heart, and I'm sure it will win yours too.

I’ve always loved Anne. She’s exuberant and dramatic and genuine. Her ability to learn and live passionately is endearing. The audio done by Rachel McAdams took it to the next level for me and brought lots of joy and laughter to my days.
