Interesting concept; however I think this would have made a more compelling short story than novel, as it was quite circular and long winded at times. Although I didn't particularly love the book, I do always enjoy Alice Sebold's writing.

This book was dark, slow-moving, and unsatisfying. There really wasn’t a character that I liked nor even one decision that I liked. I didn’t root for the main character as an anti-hero, I simply wanted to see if she’d suffer consequences.

I wanted so badly to like this book but I essentially had to force my way through it. A dark but interesting concept muddied by an untrustworthy storyteller and irrelevant stories & things happening
