I love, absolutely love,  the art style and concept of this, but it is simply too chaotic for me. The amount of information, in text and images, on a page feels overwhelming to the extent that I simply couldn't enjoy the beauty of the art or the story.

First of all, I love that the author's name is Raul the Third. This book exhausted me! You could spend ten minutes on a single page, and way beyond that investigating the vocabulary. (I did have to look up Guau to discover it meant "Wow!")
Some of my favorite lines include, "Say queso!" A very worthy winner of a Pura Belpre Honor, or any award.

Eisner 2020 Nominee - Best for Early Readers

Such a cute book for kids! ¡Vamos! shows a day in the life of Little Lobo, an adorable wolf who makes deliveries to various shops at the market. The illustrations are jam-packed with detail, and I could see myself finding something new and interesting on future reads. There is also a ton of Spanish vocab sprinkled throughout the book, and I like that it doesn't always say what the word means - it may be written somewhere else on the page, or you may need to use context clues to figure it out.

I loved Richard Scarry books when I was little. The important parts of those books were in the labels by the illustrations. There was so much to look at in those books, I would pour over a page, looking at each part of the illustration individually, reading the labels, and then finally seeing the illustration as a whole.
This book brings me back to my early experiences. It took me such a long time to read this book because I wanted to get lost in the illustrations. There are so many other stories within those illustrations, I couldn't help but get carried away!
I hope there are more stories coming, I think it would be really popular with readers.

My 4 year old son has asked to read this over and over and over. Beautiful art and fun characters.

Read for Librarian Book Group

The pages are packed with a ton of things to look at, appealing to those kids who like to really study their picture books. There's a great English/Spanish mix of words and the journey through the market is interesting.

Simple story of a trip to the market in mixed English and Spanish. Background items are labeled in Spanish, good for vocabulary building.
