Volume One of this series was a solid set up, everyone was loaded into the carousel but it was never turned on. Volume Two has that ride in motion. All the characters come to life where they were kind of walking cut-outs the first time around. Especially wasted in the first Volume was Mina Murray. Despite being put at the center of the story, she was set aside the way a female costar from an 80's TV show usually was (Duck Magnum, duck!). Here she is dynamic and alive and drives the story. The art is better, the dialogue is better and the story is better. Anyone reading Volume One should immediately jump into Volume Two--pretend you had just read an intro to this story. .

Again I wish Mina was a little better developed, but I love that she and Hyde have a decent relationship

Worst Alan Moore book ever (probably, I mean, I haven't read all of them yet). Honestly, it doesn't even feel like an Alan Moore book to me.

A re-read. The graphic novel starts up with Mars stuff with untranslated text. Just pages that I got nothing out of. And the text after was absolutely unreadable. Otherwise the below review stands. 2.5 of 5.

Again the graphic novel portion was much better than the text portion. But in this case the graphic novel portion included rape and torture mixed in with some semi-believable semi-graphic sex. Well at least we got to finally see Mina Murray's neck and hear a little bit of her story - though still not with an explanation for why she was on this time. All in all it was interesting but not impressive. 3 of 5.

Interesting premise of being during War of the Worlds but it drags in the middle excepting the Hyde/Griffin confrontation. Darker and a bit more sketch than first volume.
