Ok. I read it. The first half was interesting, but the second half was overly preachy. Satire is just not for me.

Surprisingly good and funny, though at times it was very difficult to differentiate between satire and Swift's/Gulliver's own opinions, e.g. the sexist and racist stuff. Definitely not a children's book, but one to be read and enjoyed by adults — it really made me think about the concept of humanity, and how so little has changed since the 1700s — some things have even become worse. I really love to read fake scientific texts, with this one being no exception, though Swift could have taken it easy with all the precise numbers and other measurements. So many unnecessarily complicated details along with the old-ish language made the story boring at times, but all in all, it definitely was not a bad read.
Moderate: Sexism, Racism, and Misogyny
Minor: Colonisation

The only point I take away from this rating are from the fact it was written in the 1700s
Nothing super specific but there are some eighteenth century attitudes on display

Gulliver's Travels is an extremely famous book that needs no introduction. The story is pretty simple, he goes to a land of tiny people and later to the land of humongous people. The tale is well written and is a must-read.

Until today this was the only book I had ever started and not finished. And now, I'm done reading this one too.
I wouldn't have got through it if it hadn't been assigned reading though. I don't know why this is just not my cup of tea.
I disagree with people who call this a children's story...but that might just be because I didn't like this one.
I wouldn't recommend this unless you really want to read a satire of 18th century England I'd stay clear.
However, I will admit I just had a really bad background with this one, so I'm definitely biased.
