I enjoyed this volume more than book 1, I think because we got deeper into the characters and focused a bit less on surface level cooking and eating. I didn't love the art style in the first volume but it has grown on me in this one. There were a few panels that I thought did a really good job of evoking emotions, especially when Nomoto was googling sexuality and starting to understand and come into her own sexuality. The art captured this really well - it showed vulnerability and confusion but also that epiphany when it all starts to click into place.

Cute second installment to this series, and also does some more exploring of misogyny and homophobia that the characters face. The scenes of characters feeling out of place when encountering compulsory heteronormativity are very relateable.

CW: mentions of homophobia

Another volume of gorgeous food and slow burn to save? It’s my lucky day! She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat may easily be one of my favorite Manga right now, with volume 2 hitting it out the park. Taking off from the last volume, Kasuga and Nomoto‘s friendship continues to blossom as the holidays and new year start to unfold. We get a little more into our MCs heads, with each realizing that this friendship feels more important than either expecting. Nomoto also finally realizes that she is a lesbian, and a part of her journey is trying to understand what that means to her. Watching these two together sit and share meals just warms my heart, and the food imagery continues to amaze. Can’t wait to see how they continue to connect!

The second book is continuing to be so cute. Their friendship is such a delicate flower to blossom into maybe sth more.
Cannot wait to continue.
