Not much happened in this volume until the ending and man, the brainwashing and gaslighting has done a number on Sei. He tells Yuiko that he no longer likes her and that his mom says he can see her anymore. He goes ballistic and defends his mother when Shigeru remembers what happened on Mount Chausu and accuses his aunt. Sei has accepted his mom's reality and is set on getting her approval over every aspect of his life. Seiko finally retrieves the control she feared was slipping away.

i’m really interested in why seiko desires freedom so much—why does she feel stuck in the first place? did she not want to become a mother? how did her relationship with the father start anyway?

this volume feels more like a functional one to move the story along bit we’re definitely seeing the hints of abuse wreaking havoc on seiichi’s mental state.
