This isn't a deep book but it's fun, pacy and at least starts out from a marginally less predictable place than the others. Though criticising Skullduggery Pleasant for lack of depth is a bit like criticising a peacock for lack of flight range.

This is the book I have finished reading this series on previously because my library only had the first three books, so I'm excited to read further!!! Also, maybe I'm just gay, but Valkyrie should get with a girl or with no one at all for now, like Fletcher is not it, I know what the author is trying to do with that guy and I'm not here for it 😒

Another great addition to the Skulduggery Pleasant series!
It is super fast paced though, sometimes I wish they would slow down and let Val recover. Plus, then there is more time for witty exchanges.

There are some major things that look like they will be coming up and unfolding, which I am excited for. Looking forward to reading the next one, next month.

This was the first book in the series that I truly loved.

The first two books got 4 stars - this was becuase I found them a little slow and also thought that in some parts, they were very like "x did this and then x did that and then that and this" - I wanted more emotion, more feeling.

Perhaps the target age range caused that, I'm not sure- but this book was definitely much better written in my opinion. The characters are a lot more established now, and this makes the stories a lot easier to read.

Overall, I'm really enjoying the series and will definitely continue.
