hot dangggg

This duet exceed my expectations. While the 2nd book took me longer to finish, I think that was more on my current life than the book itself. Getting to read the background of Grim and Beast, combined with Ford and Christy - it was perfection. Literally this book was the glue for all of the other stories. I loved that Pen, Asia, and all the guys were mentioned. Obviously in true Bea fashion, the spice was epic. I’m obsessed.

The last book for Grim and Beast is out. Finally. I absolutely adore these two. And my goodness this book had me all up in my feelings. It was such an emotional rollercoaster. Such an incredible love story for two people who truly believed they were never destined for it. Grim was such a fierce strong FMC. She was not a push over. She stood her ground and fought for what she believed in. Beast was oh my gosh just so drool worthy and delicious. He was everything you want in a male character. Legit everything. He just makes me smile thinking about him. Them together? Dynamite. I’m sad their series is over, but so dang happy we were able to read it and get to know them and their story. It was done justice, Bea Paige wrote this duet and just went above and beyond for it. Like…I’m speechless and just love these two so much.

This book delivered everything I wanted for these two characters. I absolutely loved them and their story. The spice, love and lust in this book is next level good. Can not wait to read the rest of this world. If you don't want any spoilers for the rest of the books in the same world, don't read the epilogue at the end of this book until after. Bea has a recommended reading order on her website that you don't have to follow, but it is there if you want it.

I cried, I laughed, I cheered, I felt everything Bea poured into these pages and characters. This duet is one that many of us hoped for and we dropped "subtle" hints to Bea that we needed it and holy smokes she delivered. The story of Grim and Beast is not some beautiful romantic love story, it's gritty and filled with emotional high and lows. These 2 characters had to fight for their love and it is a beautiful love story for the ages. Who wants boy meets girl and they fall in love anyways. I will always take boy meets girl, girl falls in love, boy gives her the hearts of her enemies and kills her dad, girl shoots boy and exiles him....I mean come on if that doesn't scream the making of a love for the ages I don't know what else does.

This book was amazing, I loved it so much. Throughout this duet, we got the best peek into Grim & Beasts history and how they’ve come to be in the rest of Bea’s books in this world. Grim is unbelievable strong & powerful and with Beast by her side she is unstoppable. This book ramped up the spice and the plot was amazing. Just be aware that a few things from her other books might be spoiled at the end for you so use caution if you haven’t read the other books in this world. Definitely a top 10 read for the year for me!!

*As this is a duet, my review is for both books because they are each part of a whole*

Intimacy: In the first book there is only discussion, fantasy, and masturbation. In the second book there is also vaginal penetration and oral

Content Warnings: Morally gray characters, age gap (this is complicated, read on for further expansion), seedy underbelly, gangsters, graphic violence, murder, allusions to child abuse, refers to God as she

The Good: They were fast paced and engaging books. The build and burn between the characters was enjoyable. Author knows the difference between a clip and a magazine.

The Bad: There’s a scene in the second book where he talks about defiling a church. A Catholic church, of course. This isn’t the first book I’ve read recently with similar scenes, they’re super cringe. I don’t think you could get away with scenes about defiling any other religion this way. It’s super gross and completely unnecessary. Also in the second book, they have sex right after a pretty traumatic event. That’s a huge “ick” for me. The second book basically has a sex scene every other scene, maybe making up for the lack of it in the first, I’m not sure. But they become monotonous and I started skimming them to get to the actual storyline.

The Ugly: For the entire first book, she’s 17. Now, he’s billed as 22, and there’s technically no sexual contact. However, this is complicated by the fact that I don’t believe he was originally supposed to be 22. He’s owned a successful shop for years, tried and didn’t end up becoming a professional boxer, and managed to become second in command to a pretty notorious fight club owner, all by 22? Come on, now. I know, I know, it’s fiction. This is further backed by the fact that he also has a hard and fast rule where he doesn’t sleep with people under 20, which seems like a good rule to live by, for someone older. He talks like this has been his rule for years, but HE supposedly hasn’t even been over 20 for that long. I really get the feeling that the author intended the gap to be much more significant and then chickened out because they realized how creepy that is. It’s still creepy because he doesn’t read as 22 at all.

Final Thoughts: They were well written, fast paced, and engaging. However, they weren’t so good that I immediately wanted to run out and read everything the author’s written, or even catch up on this series. I might revisit some of these books at a later date, but they weren’t good enough that I’m in any hurry to do so.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure I would survive life after the cliffhanger Bea put me through for the first half of Grim and Beast’s story! Even though I knew exactly how their story would end up, I STILL ceased to function once Bea had my heart in her possession. I’m constantly amazed by her unparalleled skill at writing characters that are broken and vulnerable, but still have such tangible strength, and they have to because Bea will put them through the ringer before they come out on the other side. The other thing that Bea does well…writing tension between two characters that has readers slavering for the moment they come together. Sometimes, like with book one, this means that I’m about gnawing a hole in my lip through the lady blue balls until the moment I know will finally come! Heads You Lose is an exemplar of how to balance an emotionally poignant connection and steam hot enough to set your kindle on fire! I will read every book ever written by Bea Paige, but this one will hold a little spot in my heart because of how thirsty I was to finally get their backstory in this world!

I loved Grim and Beast's Story! The book had just the right about a smut and story to it!
