This pirate crew live in an ship in a bottle, in an old junk shop. But danger lurks at every corner and when the skirting board mice kidnap Jones, the Pocket Pirates must rush to his rescue. The ransom demanded is lots and lots of cheese, so Button and company undertake the perilous journey into a freezing cold place, where winter never ends... The Fridge!

I love this book! To begin with the illustrations are magical! They help bring the amazing story to life and really capture the imagination. From Lily sitting on a mushroom, to the crew using books as a staircase, the pictures really impress upon you just how small the Pocket Pirates are!

I have read this to more than thirty children and the excitement on their faces as the story progressed just grew and grew. It's a fantastic story, that grabs you by the hands and whisks you into the adventure... the world when you're a few inches tall is a scary but amazing place! When a house spider is your mortal enemy and wants to eat you for dinner, and mice spend their time planning your downfall, imagine just how terrifying a snarling, slobbering dog would be!!

I can't wait to read more in this series and know I'm just one of many, anxious to know what or who the Pocket Pirates have to face next!

I read this tale about tiny pirates who live in a small glass-bottled ship to my 6 and 9 year old and we all enjoyed it very much. It’s witty and silly and full of pictures to help compel our younger reader forward. We will be buying the other three for sure.

This book is inconsistent and lacking. Wouldn’t recommend it.
