I love how King describe all the process of Jack going crazy and that this book is not only about murdering, killing, dyong etc. but what is more important about inner state  of characters and I love it because I don't find it in many horrors.

I would like to know what happen to Dick's jaw after all

A family isolated from everyone in a haunted hotel during the winter sounds like the perfect book and it is. I loved it. I watched the movie after I read the book because everyone seemed to love it and I hated it. The movie was literally awful. They really dropped the ball. I would love to see a better book to film adaptation someday. The book is way better than the movie.

I do love Stephen King, but I struggled with this one just because I hate Jack so much. Some of the passages were very difficult to read. The book was less spooky and more just full of dread because of the characters.

Honestly anyone reading the Shining in 2024 knows the plot to some degree. They know that the hotel is possessed, that Danny has a gift, and Jack and Wendy are always doomed to fail. While this wasn’t my favorite King book I do like this over the movie. I like how it is never hidden what the endgame is, nor does it needlessly diverge from the plot for anything. Everything has a purpose, symbolism, or message to it that is really nice. It did feel sometimes like I was just muscling through it and other times it felt a little too slow but overall I liked it.
