I enjoyed this book soooo much more than the first. This one had a lot more adventure.
The thing I really didn’t like was Lore. She annoyed the fuck out of me in this book. She kept treating Abraxas like yesterday’s trash. I absolutely love him he’s even more amazing in this book than the first one. After the end of Book 1 I was expecting a progression of their relationship and was really disappointed and left feeling like it went backwards at the start of the book (even if it does get better and is resolved in the final chapters).
Another thing that bothered me is pretty much the same thing I complained about in my review for Book 1: the writing style and pace of the story felt a little bit off. Also certain plot points that didn’t make sense. Without spoiling I’ll just say that there were so many times where Lore and Abraxas had to be separated where it felt unnecessary and made zero sense.
But other than that I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one to come out.

Bright Heart is a great continuation from Fire Heart. You fall more in love with the cast and more interested in the storyline. If you are a fan of dragons, fated mates, will-they-won't-they - this is just a treat. The world building isn't super complex, and the plot is twisty, but easy to follow. This series is a joy to read!

Book 2 of The Dragon of Umbra is a continuation of Olivia life’s adventures as a half fae of the Silverlight. I find myself liking this book even more compare to the first one.
Plot was fast paced and evolved in very interesting way. I love how they grow from having conflict, peak and resolution from it. It fulls of action and adventures. Olivia and Abraxas are force to find away to further secured their safety and future.
I love the banter, jokes and sarcasm between Olivia and Abraxas. They send sparks throughout the book and make it never boring.
Character dynamics builded are balance and not awkward. I thought they will have instant love which might spoilt the story. But with the tragedy that happen to Olivia’s mother, I love that she took her time to evaluate the relationship, her feeling and not just straight jump into her feeling.
Overall, I love this series and it gave a different story line from other fae books and will be continuing to read the next one. I would recommend this book and this series to any fantasy lover.

This was better than the first. 3 1/2, still interested in finishing out the series to see what happens

I give this whole series a 4* for the entertainment value. It’s a unique idea and a fun read. The writing style and description left something to be desired for me. It’s not amazing quality writing but if you can get past that the story is fun and intriguing.

He kept telling himself he was a good man, but she’d already labeled him as the villain in her story. Maybe it was time for him to be a little evil.
Would you believe me if I said I actually enjoyed this story more than the first book? Because I did. I truly did. There are a lot of elements that I really liked. Other things, not so much…
I loved Abraxas’ character development and I think the author handled him really well. I just wish the same could be said of Lorelei. 95% of this book is Lore wearing nothing but a scowl on her face, and chiding herself for her developing feelings for Abraxas. Yes, I understand these two are emotionally constipated since both Lorelei and Abraxas lack experience in positive relationships with anyone. Lore just reminded me too much of Poppy in FBAA, and not in a good way. It gets tiring and redundant when the MC’s monologue is all “I hate myself for these feelings” for 90% of the book. And I feel like this takes away from the depth of the overall story and it’s side characters.
Not gonna lie, there’s a moment when I thought the romance would be a love triangle. Lore’s chemistry with this certain character was pretty intense during that scene…Then we never see him again until later in the book. For a split second; even though the emphasis on his character made it seem he would be important to Lore’s story. Still don’t understand what the point of him meeting Lore.
The next issue with the story: the lack of villain presence. Margaret is made out to be this (possible) big baddie alongside the King, but we see nothing of her after the first several chapters. And the King from book 1 briefly appears after all this build up for his return.
I am curious to see how this series ends so I’ll be sticking around for book 3. I just hope we see more depth to Lore in the next book than what she allowed in this book. And more focus on the world and it’s supporting characters.
