lighthearted relaxing slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? No
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

read this almost exclusively while on the bus. had the sensation that i was reading an honest narration of a youtube series on the day in the life of a housewife. though its writing, 1997, predates the comparison.

uncanny. real. should read again when experiences align.

The writing was difficult to follow. The sentences went on for too long and there are not quotations making it difficult to distinguish between dialogue and descriptions. Became a bit exhausting to read

In terms of literary style, deserves a higher rating but the plot brought her down

“This is what people mean when they say déjà vu, that’s what happens when you become an adult, especially a housewife, you have this feeling of déjà vu that leaves you nauseous and dizzy”⁣

“Although what’s wrong with being boring, that I don’t know. The thing about being boring, having a boring life, is that you should do it while you still can, if you don’t have time to be bored, you’ll be exhausted.”⁣
