Beautiful book about night, but with all the butter references all I could think of was SNL's Coffee Talk and "it's like BUTTAH". Little ones wouldn't have that frame of reference, though. :)

Well, the paintings are nice, but the poem where moonlight is butter was a little weird for me.

I just found this book to be really strange. I liked the illustrations okay, though.

Sparse, simple text relating moonlight to butter is relaxing and the pictures are gorgeous. If I don't think about it too much, it's just a beautiful book. A decent addition to a night or moon themed story time, this one is easy to read out loud and could provoke some discussion about what else they moon could be compared to and if they think the simile of butter is accurate.

Rather a different kind of concept and story, but I love the illustrations!

I love the comparison of moonlight to butter. It just made everything feel so dreamy! And the illustrations are beautiful!

Rabbit waits for the moon to appear out of the cloudy skies, but leaves a bit too soon to see the moon emerge. The moon shines its buttery light into space and onto the earth. It covers the mountains, the trees, enters the water, and even enters Rabbit’s burrow, making his dreams fill with the light. He wakes up, leaves his burrow and dances in the field with the butter of the moon on his head.
