Didn't life begin in water? Didn‘t we need it so much we grew a skin around us to trap it inside when we crawled out?
i want more dystopian novels about climate change and the failure of modern capitalism!!
the end felt a bit chaotic especially after a slower paced rest of the book and there’s some things i don’t quite buy (the facility tour) but all in all i loved that this didn’t try to be a love story (looking at you, YA dystopias) and cassidy was a very interesting character

This was an enjoyable and easy listen, but the gravity of the ending didn't quite settle as heavily as I wish it had.

You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine got under my skin in the best possible way - I still can’t see a snack cake without thinking of it. Something New Under the sun brings the same eeriness and sense of place while also masterfully weaving together Hollywood noir (think “Under the Silver Lake”), near-future dystopia, and family narrative. I loved it.

Hmm. I'm surprised at how this played out. I came into the reading experience after having seen the author speak at a reading so I was primed to adore this book. The concepts and settings were intriguing but the execution was sadly botched - there is no 'thriller' here, and while the first half of the book felt brooding and like it was heading somewhere, the second half really lost its way. The characters were thinly developed and never felt fully known. Ultimately, the confusing and inconsistent tone in the back half of the novel is what leaves the most lasting impression on me.

Dystopian horror that falls apart in the best possible way. It doesn't surprise me that reviews on this are so mixed, but I loved it.
