I was so nervous to read this because I am such a Luca stan but I absolutely loooooved this story. For so many reasons, but I want to start with Marcella’s character. I just loved the way she was written. She’s the fierce and proud girl who’s so strong but she’s human and has insecurities and things that make her upset and sad. I liked that the author didn’t make her the unattainable badass. To me, she was the perfect example of a strong woman written well.
The whole kidnapping thing has been done so many times that it’s easy to gloss over how complex of a situation it is and I also appreciated that the author took her time with all of the moving parts of the story.

idk why i find coras heroines so whinny and so weak. it ruins whole book for me and their motives and moves make no sense cause theyre trying too hard to be these strong charachters and it just looks so pathethic

OH MY SOUL! The second generation stories begin with a bang-an epic and swoony love story stained with darkness and revenge. I have long awaited the second generation stories of my favorite mafiosos. By Sin I Rise is such an enticing beginning to the the much anticipated Sins of the Father Series. Dark, gritty, and consuming and the perfect marriage of mafia danger and mc steel - we learn quickly that not only will our next generation have to answer for the sins of their parents, but that they will also break the mafia mold and challenge everything we've come to expect from one of my favorite mafia writers. This is a whole new world of mafia intrigue, and a new type of hero and heroine. And I AM HERE FOR IT.

If Maddox says the word “cream” one more time I will kill myself in front of him to change the trajectory of his life forever.

We have already done kidnapping with Remofina and that shit was WILD to me. there was no way Cora could deliver that level of deranged out of pocket mental illness again and i was correct.

maddox is boring and quite frankly so pussy whipped he should be embarrassed. i can’t believe i’m saying this, but STAND UP? he was so bleh.

marcella i thoroughly enjoyed. i love a spoiled princess who knows she’s spoiled and i’m happy she wants more.

marcella and maddox have 0 chemistry. i can’t tell if it’s bc i’m reading this while i have covid so i’m just in a bad mood, but all the sex scenes left way more to be desired.

the way she made this book two books is insane. it could definitely be finished in one… what was the reason?
