2 out of 5 ☆’s.

”You don't have to be ashamed of who you are with me, Elsa. You can be a fucking lunatic, and I still won't let you go.”

*Sigh* I’m not sure where to begin with this one…

I had high hopes for ”Steel Princess” when I started the novel — it seemed as though it was going to be different from its predecessor & that some necessary character growth would happen at some point in the story — but it seems as though my faith was misplaced.

The main issue that I had with ”Steel Princess” was that it felt unnecessary. It seemed as though there was no character growth and minimal plot progression at best. The story mostly consisted of Elsa stating that she was going take a stance against Aiden and then immediately giving into him and sleeping with him a couple of pages later (I can understand characters changing their minds a couple of times throughout the story — but changing it every couple of pages becomes frustrating).

I will probably come back to this series at some point in the future because I am curious as to what happens plot-wise — but at this point in time it’s not a favorite of mine.

This book only gets two stars because I could not put this down and read it in like two days.

Like the previous book I did not like this. The whole time I was frustrated with the plot, the characters, with everything.
Teenage me would've devoured this book but realistic and rational me hates this book and the love interest, Aiden, because if he were real (and the relationship) it would be the definition for 'toxic, abusive, manipulative relationship'. Most of the time I can kind of look past the assault but in this book it's so bad I couldn't, not once.
the fact that Aiden even admitted to wanting to rape her when she didn't want to have sex still haunts me. I don't get why people love him

Also, if you can't read clichés do not read this. This book is filled with clichés and tropes (I think) -almost- everyone hates. Another thing is too many use of the same descriptive elements, I think I'm not lying when I say that Aiden (at least) described ten times Elsa as 'politicale correct', like find a synonym or something. A little bit of creativity is not too much too ask right? I mean nothing really is creative in this book.

The only reason I'm reading the books about Aiden and Elsa is because I want to read the book about Cole and Silver (that is book six so I still have a long way to go :( )

I will read the third book but I know I'm gonna hate it as much as this one, if not more.
