I usually love O’Leary’s writing, but this one wasn’t for me. I wasn’t rooting for the romance, either in the ‘now’ or ‘then’ time periods. It felt a lot like insta-lust and then just dysfunctional.  What I did love is Addie and Deb’s relationship, O’Leary writes familial relationships so well. There was a sense of privilege in the book which I didn’t enjoy. By the end of the book I was getting tired of everything, and one trope at the end I didn’t vibe with at all. I will definitely still read more O’Leary, as I loved the Switch, but the Road Trip wasn’t my favourite.

I liked this one. The main people still ended up together so boo for that but overall it was a good book to read.

Why do Addie and Dylan fall madly in love and become a couple (as opposed to just hooking up for the summer)? An important question that the book doesn't answer.
I enjoyed the "Now" part more than the "Then", but I ended up wishing Addie and Dylan wouldn't get back together. They didn't seem like a good match.

The Road Trip was such a fun read! I really enjoyed the dual timeline. It was so interesting to see Dylan and Addie’s relationship develop (and eventually fall apart) and everyone’s role in both Then and Now. All the characters were so quirky and had such bright and distinguishing personalities. Can’t wait to read more by Beth O’Leary!!!
