The art is amazing, didn't understand one bit of the story. Maybe there was no story, who knows?

I'd been following Ze Burnay's progress of this book online for quite a few months, so when I found out he would debuting it at Toronto Comic Arts Festival and that I'd have an opportunity to buy it directly from the creator himself, I was pretty damn excited. Let's just say that this exceeded my already enormous expectations. At the risk of sounding like some sort of fanboy (which, let's be honest, I totally am at this point) Andromeda or the Long Way Home is nothing short of masterful.

The first thing that comes to mind when looking at this book is the utter ambition of it all, from the heavily detailed - bordering on obsessive - linework, to the deeply rich mythology and heavy use of symbolism saturating each page, this book feels like some sort of ancient artifact excavated from an alternate reality, rather than something you purchase.

Reminiscent of some of Jodorowsky's best works, but with a certain subtlety and gentleness I find Jodo's work often lacks. Where Jodo tends to wack you over the head with his very specific and personal ideas of mysticism and the metaphysical, Ze chooses rather to gently take the reader by the hand and to lead them through a path of his creations while still allowing the space for the readers own mind to truly enrich the setting he has so generously provided with it's own interpretations.

This thing was completely self published, which is truly incredible considering it is some of the highest quality physical printing out of any book I own. It looks (and feels) amazing to behold in person, and has that "shelf/spine value" that makes you feel damn good about still buying and displaying PHYSICAL COPIES OF STUFF!

10/10, can't wait to see what's next from this guy!!!

burnay's artwork is beautiful, so fine-grained and detailed it gives a feeling like the images are crystallized in anger - though it reads quickly, and I raced through it in an hour or so, the storytelling feels slow-paced, dreamlike, inviting you to interperet it and find meaning.
