I don’t actually have words for how I identified with Lizzie. The representation of ADHD is so similar to how I feel it affects me. It was written very well and I just can’t explain it. Mazey Eddings has written such a good book.

Spoiler the only thing I didn’t like was the insta love but that’s just my personal preference in books

After reading her debut novel, A Brush With Love, Mazey immediately became an auto-buy author for me. Her gift for articulating how her character’s neurodiversity affects them emotionally and physically, and how they navigate their day-to-day life, is immersive, informative, and imperative for destigmatizing these mental health issues. I LOVE the complex characters she creates, and the found family and partners who love and support them unconditionally. And her use of imagery to convey emotion is exquisite.

Lizzie Blake, who suffers from uncontrolled ADHD, is one of the most alive characters I’ve ever read. Her personality jumps off the page driven by the need for stimulation and impulsivity. My heart ached for her need to connect with people but feeling like she is too much for anything sustainable. So many times in this book, I wanted to give her the biggest hug.

Enter Rake. Their chemistry was instant and he exuded sweet and sexy vibes right off the bat. And I mean, let’s be honest, Rake is a unicorn of a man, but his backstory helped provide a believable context for his actions. The way he was there for Lizzie in every single way and was so in tune to her was beautiful.

I loved that this story was told in (third person) dual POV. I also loved how Lizzie’s

Loved the book! Very funny at times and sad at other times. A good balance of both, just wicked it was longer.

This book is SO CUTE!! I absolutely adored watching Lizzie grow and become more confident. Rake was an absolute gem as well with his patience and love for Lizzie. They both felt so alive and real. I loved them.

The miscommunication and third act breakup tropes are always a bitch, though. This book being yet another victim. I would have loved Lizzie  and Rake's character development to show them working through a miscommunication.

I know this is technically part of a series, but I didn't like any of Lizzie's friends enough to read the other books. This works perfectly as a stand-alone and I'm happy with beginning and ending the story here.

I ADORE this book!! It’s a great lighthearted read and very fast paced. Lizzie and Rake are incredibly lovable characters individually and together. I laughed so much during this book. Easily a new favorite of mine!
