As I read this book, my mind was constantly wandering.
I could not stay focused on the story, so I was often confused.
It's just not my kind of read .

This is the second Bond that I've read i quick succession. While I enjoyed the first, Doctor No, this one was a bit flat - entirely serviceable but no real life to it.

This book took me forever to read for some reason. It was again a much slower paced bond book. I enjoyed learning more about Spectre and Blofeld but the main action of the story didn't really get rolling til the last 15 pages. I am seeing a pattern in how these books are written tho and it's interesting but dreadful because it's like I know I am going to be reading details for 80%of the book and only getting a bit of rushed action right at the end.

Bond is still a badass though and look forward to seeing this movie to make comparisons and You Only Live Twice is next on the Bond book/movie list !

Spoiler
Thunderball’s story was amazing. While not the very best of Ian Fleming work it has a great mix of humor and action, while also having great character development, specifically for Domino which makes it one of my favorite Bond books. Also, I loved the submarine scene with Bond and Commander Pedersen. It is also a short book so it doesn’t take that much time to get through it.

One of the more fun Bond books. It starts off truly hilariously (Bond gets sent to a health clinic, thinks M has gone senile), and gets incredibly tense from there. Especially refreshing was the relationship between Bond & Domino...there's a sweetness there that's missing from Bond's previous relationships. Awesome stuff.

Absolutely loved this audio book. Especially enjoyed Jason Isaacs narration! One of my all time favourite actors. His ability to conjure up so many different voices to portray the characters was astounding.

Thunderball was a 007 tale I was never that well acquainted with. In the past I had only seen bits and pieces of the movie. I enjoyed every minute of this story. Gripping and intriguing. Definitely will be diving back into this story again sometime soon.

5 stars!!

Thunderball would be a pretty straightforward thriller if it wasn't for the invention of SPECTRE and Blofeld, which adds a certain spice. Even if they're just there to be beaten by Bond they way they're introduced is nicely done.

In your mind's eye you can see this playing out in a Bond film.

It's well-crafted. It has one of the more interesting Bond girls in Domino whose courage can't be doubted.

There's not a lot else I have to add really. It's fine and functional. It's nowhere near being the best of the series and I like Bond's attitude to making your own mind up about people. I like his thoughts on women driver's less.
